71 series gasoline engine is the second generation of 72 series gasoline engine.
Diverse technologies are adopted successfully in the third and fourth generation of 72 series gasoline engine. These technologies include VVT (variable valve timing), EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), plastic variable-length intake manifold, timing chain drive, fuel rail heating, turbo compressor inlet (TCI), integrated exhaust manifold, and etc.
Besides that, the fourth generation also introduced TGDI (turbocharged gasoline direct injection), allowing a higher performance in dynamic, fuel consumption, fuel displacement than the average in automotive engine field. Meanwhile, its power per liter is no less than 85.2kW/L and torque per liter is no less than 185.4N.m/L. Moreover, its displacement well meets the EU6c standard. When coupled with Chery's manual transmission, it could be installed on A0-class passenger vehicles.
