The semi-automatic gearbox, also called automated manual transmission (AMT), clutchless manual transmission, or paddle-shift gearbox is an automobile gearbox designed on the basis of manual gearbox. It just changes gear shift rather than overall transmission structure. That is, the computer does all of the clutch disengaging, gear shifting, and clutch engaging, thus ensuring faster gear shifting and preventing the vehicle from stalling.
The core technology of the semi-automatic gearbox is computer control. Hence, its performance and running quality will directly depend on the electronic technology and quality. In addition, our AMT can also be switched to manual mode to perform gear shifting at the drivers' wish.
